David Biography
David Alpert
David is a New York City based director (SDC), most recently represented on Broadway as the Associate Director on If/Then written by the Pulitzer Prize winning team of Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, directed by Michael Greif. On Broadway, he served as the Associate Director for the Tony-Award winning production of The Trip to Bountiful starring Cicely Tyson, and assisted on The Best Man as well as Guys & Dolls. At the Guthrie Theater, David assistant directed the world-premiere of Tony Kushner’s The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide… Additional credits include Talley’s Folly (Roundabout), Old Friends (Signature), Flashdance (1st National), A Little Night Music (NYU), Death Note (Frank Wildhorn), The Apple Boys (HERE Arts), A Scythe of Time (NYMF, Best Director Nomination), Idina Menzel at Radio City Music Hall & The Bridges Tour with Idina Menzel (Creative Consultant), Fully Committed (Mason Street Warehouse), Vayna & Sonya… (Farmers Alley Theatre), Urinetown, It’s Only a Play (Farmers Alley Theatre), and Little Shop of Horrors (York Arena Theater). David is the Artistic Director of Headline Programming for BroadwayCon, an adjunct professor at New York University, and is the proud producer of the Living for Today concert series, the main fundraiser for Gilana’s Fund (www.gilanasfund.org). He holds a B.A. in Theatre Studies from Western Michigan University, where upon graduation he was awarded both of the Department’s top honors: the Presidential Scholar, and the Conspicuous Achievement in Theatre Award, and in 2016 was selected as a Distinguished Alumni. www.david-alpert.com @directfromdavid
